Job summary

Midsouth Steel Inc. is seeking an Estimator to develop detailed cost estimates for multi-family steel components across the southeastern United States. You will analyze plans, quantities, and specifications, working with project teams to ensure accurate bids and timely submissions.

The role is full-time and remote with occasional site visits. Proficiency in Bluebeam, Tekla EPM, and Microsoft Office is essential, as is the ability to read blueprints and manage multiple estimates.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years of experience in construction estimating, preferably for structural or miscellaneous steel.
• Experience with multi-family housing projects strongly preferred.
• Proficiency in Bluebeam, Tekla EPM, and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to read blueprints, shop drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
• Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and communication abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines simultaneously.

Responsibilities

• Review and analyze project plans, drawings, and specifications for multi-family housing developments.
• Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for structural steel stairs, rails, and miscellaneous steel products.
• Utilize Bluebeam, Tekla EPM, and Microsoft Office Suite to develop, organize, and manage estimates.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers/detailers, and architects to define project scope and clarify requirements.
• Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotes, ensuring competitive pricing and adherence to quality standards.
• Identify potential cost efficiencies and value-engineering opportunities.
• Maintain organized documentation of all estimates, bids, and supporting data.
• Develop and maintain relationships with contractors, developers, and vendors in the multi-family construction market.
• Support the Multi-Family Division’s growth by providing accurate, timely estimates that align with project and client expectations.
