Job summary

Blue View Builder is seeking a Structural Engineer specializing in light-gauge and cold-formed steel for modular and panelized buildings. You will perform analysis, detailing, and coordination to ensure buildable designs compliant with CA codes for factory production and on-site assembly.

Ideal candidates have 3–10+ years experience with LGS/CFS, familiarity with AISI/IBC/ASCE 7 and proficiency in STAAD/ETABS/SAP2000/RISA, Revit, and AutoCAD. Remote, full-time role with DOE compensation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Civil/Structural Engineering; 3–10+ years in structural engineering for LGS/CFS, modular or panelized a plus.
• California building codes experience; CA PE/SE license preferred or ability to obtain.
• Proficiency with structural analysis software (STAAD/ETABS/SAP2000/RISA) and BIM/drafting tools (Revit/AutoCAD).
• Knowledge of AISI, AISC, ASCE, IBC; seismic/wind design in CA.
• Understanding modular construction constraints: manufacturing tolerances, lifting, transportation, stacking and site install.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural analysis and design of LGS/CFS framing systems for modular/panelized buildings.
• Design members, connections, bracing, shear walls with attention to buckling and serviceability.
• Prepare calculations drawings, details; stamp/seal documents as Engineer of Record when licensed.
• Coordinate with architecture, PE, MEP, manufacturing, estimating and field teams for manufacturability.
• Review shop drawings and BIM models; support value engineering and panelization.
• Ensure compliance with seismic, wind, and fire requirements in CA markets.
• Collaborate on standard details and production-friendly design practices.
