Job summary

Kaplan University Partners is seeking part-time STEM mentors to support precollege students enrolled in online programs. Mentors provide async guidance, feedback and encouragement at predetermined milestones, using Canvas inbox, Zoom, and other digital tools.

Mentors complete a paid training program and collaborate with KUP staff to guide students through assignments and final projects, supporting a diverse group of learners. Remote, part-time engagement with a flexible schedule is offered.

Qualifications

• Strong passion for course related topics.
• Experience working with adolescents/teens ages 13-17 from diverse backgrounds.
• Ability to work in the absence of direct supervisory relationships.
• Demonstrated ability to learn and work in digital communications platforms (email, Zoom, Google Hangouts or Canvas).
• Pass background check and authorization to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Provide async guidance, feedback and answer questions.
• Review course assignments, provide direction and answer questions.
• Answer ad hoc questions throughout the course session.
• Brainstorm and ideate with students on their final project ideas.
• Be familiar with all course material.
• Check-in with the program staff at specified periods.
• Report back on student engagement as requested.
