StrongMind, a remote-first education technology company, seeks an experienced software engineering leader to shape AI-enabled products and scalable architectures. You will drive design reviews, establish reusable patterns, and accelerate delivery while improving system health.

This role balances technical execution with product thinking and cross-team influence, requiring strong communication and mentoring across Product, Design, and Engineering teams.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience shipping production code.
• Experience designing, building, and operating production software systems at scale.
• Track record of setting technical direction for a team or major system and shipping outcomes.
• Ability to establish shared patterns, templates, or guardrails that engineers adopt.
• Strong system design skills—scaling patterns, reliability controls, and observability.
• Experience leading refactors or modernization efforts reducing long-term costs.
• Influence engineering direction across teams via writing, reviews, and coaching.
• Cross-functional partnership with Product, Design, and Engineering Management.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; incident follow-ups.

Responsibilities

• Lead design reviews and implementation for large cross-cutting efforts.
• Establish reusable patterns and default configurations adopted by teams.
• Drive refactors and reliability improvements reducing defects and incidents.
• Introduce data contracts and migrations aligning shared entities and ownership.
• Improve performance with dashboards, benchmarks, and AI-assisted tooling.
• Introduce security guardrails and safer defaults to reduce findings.
• Lead team planning, sizing, sequencing, and risk management.
• Create design docs, incident communications templates, and onboarding plans.
