Job summary

Snowflake is hiring a Staff Security Engineer, Threat Detection for a fully remote role across the United States. You will build AI-enabled threat detections, deploy detection pipelines, and collaborate across Security and Engineering to protect data at cloud scale.

You will develop modern detections, leverage AI/ML, and drive automation to reduce detection time while partnering with stakeholders to deliver detection as a service. A CS degree and cloud experience are highly valued.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in security engineering (threat detection, incident response, threat hunting, product security, or corporate security).
• Strong coding ability in Python or Go with software/data tooling experience.
• Experience handling data programmatically (SQL, Python) with large-scale logs/telemetry.
• Production code experience with unit tests, version control, and CI/CD.
• Experience developing/operating agent-based workflows (LangGraph or similar).
• Hands-on with at least one cloud provider (AWS/Azure/GCP) and cloud security services.
• Understanding SaaS risks: account compromise, data exfiltration, phishing, supply chain attacks.
• Risk-based approach to prioritize security initiatives and judicious use of AI.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deploy detections using modern engineering practices, including detections as code and CI/CD.
• Mature threat detection by analyzing coverage gaps and reducing false positives with AI/ML where helpful.
• Recommend detective/preventative controls from threat models and data exploration.
• Design automations and AI-driven workflows to strengthen security posture and reduce MTTD/MTTR.
• Partner with stakeholders to deliver detection as a service with reusable components.
• Measure detection quality across coverage, precision/recall, latency.
