Job summary

WRITER in San Francisco or Seattle is seeking a Staff Detection and Response Engineer to safeguard our AI platform. You’ll design detections, automate responses, and coordinate incident response across Cloud, AppSec, and AI Security teams.

This role blends hands-on security engineering with threat intelligence, incident response leadership, and proactive threat hunting across GPU clusters and distributed training environments.

Qualifications

• 3-5+ years in security operations, detection engineering, or incident response in AI/ML infrastructure.
• Strong programming skills in Python, KQL, SPL for detection logic and automation.
• Experience with SIEM platforms and forensic investigation techniques.
• Self-directed with a track record of securing high-value IP and proactive threat hunting.
• Aligns with WRITER values and collaborates across security, infrastructure, and AI research teams.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement detection strategies for AI-specific threats across distributed infra.
• Build automated response playbooks and orchestration workflows to contain threats.
• Lead security incident response coordination across teams and draft communications.
• Hunt for sophisticated threats across GPU clusters and training infrastructure.
• Build detection-as-code frameworks with deployment automation and dashboards.
• Collaborate as the security partner for all teams to translate threat research into detections.
• Maintain 24/7 on-call rotation for critical AI security incidents and improve coverage.
