Job summary

LegalZoom is seeking a Staff Product Designer (internally referred to as an AI UX Designer) to solve end-to-end product problems and deliver production-ready prototypes and components for engineering to implement.

The role blends design judgment with front-end fluency in AI development tools, with emphasis on quality checks, instrumentation, and iteration based on real usage. You will mentor peers and shape AI-powered experiences in collaboration with product, engineering and brand partners.

Qualifications

• Strong design fundamentals evidenced by exploration of multiple approaches.
• Comfort designing from ambiguity and without a spec.
• Fluency with AI development tools such as Claude Code to build production-quality prototypes.
• Front-end implementation fluency and wiring components to real data vs static mocks.
• Git and GitHub workflow experience (branches, PRs, code review).
• Prompt and context scaffolding to keep AI output consistent.

Responsibilities

• Develop design frameworks that clarify ambiguous problems and explore alternatives.
• Build and ship production-quality prototypes and components with real data.
• Translate requirements into shipped experiences using AI tools, contributing to front-end implementation when beneficial.
• Identify gaps in the design system and document new components that fit the system.
• Review CI/CD checks, visual regression, accessibility, and token audits before release.
• Incorporate AI-generated work while preserving design intent and refine as needed.
• Instrument shipping to inform next iterations with performance signals.
• Support cross-functional roadmap trade-offs balancing speed and quality.
• Shape AI-powered features to calibrate user trust and present appropriate options.
• Mentor peers and raise the team's craft bar.
• Align with product, engineering and brand partners to ensure cohesive ships.
