Job summary

GitLab is seeking a Staff Software Engineer for the DAP Repository Flows team, part of the Duo Agent Platform in the AI/R&D group. You will set technical direction and drive complex initiatives to build autonomous and scheduled agents that operate on customer codebases.

You will mentor engineers, align interfaces across teams, and raise the engineering bar for async-first collaboration while solving hard technical problems at scale.

Qualifications

• Deep hands-on experience with Ruby on Rails in production systems.
• Demonstrated experience integrating LLMs into products (not training models).
• Experience building agentic systems: autonomous or semi-autonomous agents.
• Track record designing and shipping large-scale systems and guiding technical direction across teams.
• Strong written communication and ability to operate in a distributed, async-first environment.

Responsibilities

• Set and drive the technical direction for the DAP Repository Flows team, shaping onboarding and repository/background flows.
• Lead the design and delivery of autonomous and scheduled agents that operate on customer codebases on the Duo Agent Platform.
• Refine the DAP onboarding experience so customers can configure a project quickly and be productive.
• Partner across teams in the broader DAP organization to align interfaces and platform capabilities.
• Mentor senior engineers, review designs and code, and elevate the team's technical quality.
• Identify and resolve the hardest technical problems, preventing issues through sound design.
• Foster a culture of autonomy, ownership, and async-first collaboration.
