GitLab is hiring a Staff Software Engineer for the DAP Repository Flows team within the Duo Agent Platform. You will set technical direction, drive autonomous and scheduled agents on customer codebases, and elevate engineering standards across teams.

You will mentor engineers, partner with multiple teams, and refine onboarding experiences to accelerate customer productivity in an async-first environment.

Qualifications

• Proven hands-on experience with Ruby and Ruby on Rails in production systems.
• Demonstrated experience integrating LLMs into products (not model training).
• Experience building agentic systems that act autonomously or semi-autonomously.
• Track record designing and shipping complex, high-scale systems with cross-team direction.
• Strong written communication and ability to operate in a distributed, async-first environment.
• Judgment and influence expected of a staff-level engineer: setting direction and unblocking others.

Responsibilities

• Set and drive technical direction for the DAP Repository Flows team, shaping onboarding and repository/background flows.
• Lead design and delivery of autonomous and scheduled agents operating on customer codebases on the Duo Agent Platform.
• Refine the DAP onboarding experience for quick project configuration and productivity.
• Collaborate across teams in the broader DAP organization to align interfaces and platform capabilities.
• Mentor senior and intermediate engineers, review designs and code, and raise technical quality.
• Identify and resolve the hardest technical problems and prevent them through sound design.
• Promote a culture of autonomy, ownership, and async-first collaboration.
