Job summary

Healthie is seeking a senior engineer to lead the Automation by Healthie initiative, building scalable, user-friendly automation that reduces manual work for healthcare providers. You will design and implement event-driven workflows, triggers, and actions across scheduling, charting, billing, and engagement, while ensuring security and reliability.

You’ll work with product, security, and operations to integrate AI-driven enhancements and maintain robust observability in a fast-paced, remote U.S.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Experience with event-driven or workflow systems in production.
• Experience with Rails or a similar backend framework.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure, preferably AWS, and modern CI/CD tooling.
• Familiarity with PostgreSQL and background processing systems like Redis/Sidekiq.

Responsibilities

• Build and expand Healthie’s customer-facing workflow automation capabilities within the platform.
• Develop new automation triggers and actions across core product areas like scheduling, charting, billing, messaging, and engagement.
• Engineer reliable, scalable automation infrastructure with retries, idempotency, error handling, and user-facing feedback.
• Ship an intuitive Automation builder enabling customers to configure workflows without deep technical expertise.
• Identify opportunities to leverage AI, LLM APIs, and orchestration for smarter automation.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Product, Security, and Operations to ensure security and scalability.
• Own end-to-end delivery from architecture to deployment and monitoring.
