Affim is hiring for a backend-focused engineering leader who will shape the technical direction of a high-scale platform. You will drive strategy, partner with product and design, and ensure reliable, observable systems across distributed services.

You will guide architecture, own on-call readiness, and mentor teammates while delivering critical features that impact customers’ shopping experiences. This role embraces remote work with flexible collaboration across time zones.

Qualifications

• 8+ years designing, developing and launching backend systems at scale.
• Experience designing with Python or Kotlin.
• Experience with AWS, MySQL, Spark and Kubernetes.
• Experience building consumer experiences with React.
• 2+ years in search or recommendation engines.
• Able to deliver features with execution plans and high-quality code.
• Comfortable with ambiguity and large system architectures.
• Strong written and verbal communication for global teams.

Responsibilities

• Set technical strategy for the team on a year-long horizon.
• Collaborate with product, design and analytics across the lifecycle.
• Define and advocate technical solutions and operating processes.
• Own team operations, monitoring, triage, playbooks and on-call readiness.
• Foster a culture of quality and coding standards beyond the team.
