Job summary

Affim seeks an experienced engineering leader to set the technical strategy for a fast-growing backend platform. You will guide a team focused on building scalable services, improving search and discovery experiences, and delivering high-availability systems.

You will collaborate with product, design and analytics to align technical decisions with business goals, while maintaining robust on-call processes and rigorous coding standards for the entire team.

Qualifications

• 8+ years designing, developing and launching backend systems at scale.
• Experience building highly available distributed systems.
• Experience with Python or Kotlin.
• Experience with search/recommendation engines is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Define and execute the technical strategy for the team over a year.
• Collaborate with product, design and analytics to ensure sustainability and trade-offs are understood.
• Advocate for technical solutions and operational processes to improve efficiency.
• Own team operations, monitoring, playbooks, on-call readiness and reliability.
• Set code review and design standards and promote them across teams.
• Mentor and develop team members through guidance and example.
