Virtasant seeks a Staff Backend / Product Engineer to evolve a multi-cloud FinOps platform into broader cloud and AI cost intelligence offerings. You will work on distributed data systems, reliable processing of cloud billing and usage data, and scalable APIs for analytics.

You will operate with high autonomy, shaping product direction with leadership, and focus on reliability, cost efficiency, and clear user value as AI capabilities scale from experimentation to durable features.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience with backend focus.

Responsibilities

• Design and build backend-heavy platform features.
• Productionalise AI-enabled capabilities (anomaly detection, recommendations, agent-based workflows).
• Implement AI across SDLC, from prototyping to deployment.
• Design distributed data pipelines processing cloud billing, usage, and AI telemetry.
• Build reliable systems for backfills, late-arriving data, and reprocessing.
• Create scalable data models and APIs powering analytics and AI cost insights.
• Collaborate with Product to ship features.
• Define engineering standards as the product matures.
