Job summary

AHNA Group seeks a Staff Accountant to support day-to-day accounting and payroll functions, including general ledger, reconciliations, and month-end close. This 100% remote role is open to Alabama residents, requiring reliable internet, home office setup, and strong communication with the finance team.

The ideal candidate will handle payroll processing, journal entries, and financial reporting while upholding confidentiality and meeting deadlines in a collaborative, deadline-driven environment.

Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
• 1–3 years of accounting experience preferred.
• Payroll processing experience strongly preferred.
• Basic understanding of general ledger accounting and account reconciliations.
• Experience with Excel and accounting/payroll software.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate and complete accounting records and post routine journal entries.
• Assist with monthly and year-end closing activities and financial reporting.
• Prepare routine account reconciliations and support balance sheet integrity.
• Process payroll according to schedule and review payroll data for accuracy.
• Support internal controls, audits, and regulatory reporting requirements.
• Maintain organized documentation and respond to inquiries from finance team.
