Job summary

RethinkFirst is seeking a Staff Accountant to join our finance team and support day-to-day accounting, month-end close, and financial reporting. This remote-first opportunity is open to candidates nationwide in the United States, with room to grow in GAAP-compliant processes and internal controls.

You will prepare journal entries, reconcile accounts, assist auditors, and collaborate with senior management to ensure timely, accurate financial results and adherence to company policies.

Qualifications

• Preferred undergraduate degree in Accounting or Finance, with 2-3 years of relevant accounting experience.
• Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP functions)
• Experience with ERP system like Sage Intacct preferred.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication (verbal and written), organizational skills, and ability to multi-task.
• Ability to work independently on deliverables to achieve accurate results.
• Ability to prioritize conflicting demands and maintain excellent communication regarding deliverables.

Responsibilities

• Perform day-to-day accounting activities, including bank reconciliations.
• Prepare journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation.
• Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities.
• Assist the month-end close process, including balance sheet and P&L reconciliations.
• Ensure deadlines are met for financial reporting and management review.
• Support external auditors by providing requested documentation.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, internal controls, and GAAP standards
