Job summary

Arbor Research Collaborative for Health is seeking a Staff Accountant to support GAAP-based month-end close, accounts payable, and project accounting in a government contracting environment. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
• Three+ years of GL or staff accounting experience, incl. two years with a government contractor.
• Hands-on Unanet experience, including GL processing.
• Experience with Unanet modules (timekeeping, expense, project, or financial).
• Knowledge of FAR Part 31, DCAA audit requirements, and indirect rate structures.
• Strong GAAP and account reconciliation know‑how.
• Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, reconciliation).
• Detail oriented with ability to meet close deadlines.
• Ability to obtain/maintain required background investigation.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and post journal entries for accruals, depreciation, and reclassifications.
• Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations for key accounts.
• Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
• Prepare schedules and analyses, including budget-to-actual and variances.
• Maintain chart of accounts and organizational structure with Accounting Manager.
• Support labor cost distribution, timekeeping, and labor reconciliations.
• Assist with project setup, ASC 606 revenue recognition, and billing.
• Respond to DCAA/DCMA/auditors and Single Audit requests as applicable.
• Develop standard and ad-hoc reports for management and compliance.
• Review and code vendor/subcontractor invoices; perform three-way matching.
• Process employee expense reports per policy and FTR as applicable.
• Prepare weekly payment runs and maintain vendor master data (W-9, SAM).
• Reconcile AP subledger to GL; manage AP aging and accruals.
• Prepare 1099 filings and respond to vendor inquiries.
