Job summary

Piper Companies is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to support a Kubernetes-based platform across regulated cloud and on-prem environments. This long-term contract role focuses on Kubernetes infrastructure, Linux administration, automation, and cloud technologies, with the option to sit remote in the United States.

You will work with senior engineers to improve platform reliability, scalability, security, and operational performance while supporting FedRAMP High and DoD IL5 compliant

Qualifications

• 4-6 years of SRE/DevOps or related infra roles.
• Hands-on production Kubernetes management.
• Experience with AWS, Azure or similar cloud; GovCloud a plus.
• Strong Linux administration and troubleshooting.
• IaC with Terraform/CloudFormation or similar.
• Python, Go, or Ruby scripting capabilities.
• Experience with observability and centralized logging.
• Familiarity with GitOps like ArgoCD and CI/CD tooling.
• Experience in regulated environments (FedRAMP High/DoD IL5) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Build and operate Kubernetes clusters across environments.
• Monitor reliability with observability, alerting, and troubleshooting.
• Develop automation to improve efficiency and reduce manual work.
• Define and track SLI/SLO/Error budgets with teams.
• Support compliance, security, auditing, and monitoring in regulated environments.
• Contribute to IaC development using Terraform/CloudFormation.
• Improve CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes.
• Collaborate with Security, Platform, and App teams to resolve issues.
