Governors Action Alliance (GovAct) seeks a Spring Legal Intern to join a collaborative team protecting reproductive freedom and expanding health care access across states. You will support legal research, legislative tracking, statutory and regulatory analysis, and translate complex developments into useful resources for Governors’ Offices.

The internship is fully remote within the United States, with the option for hybrid work in Washington, D.C. or SF Bay Area.

Formación

• Experience in policy or politics is a plus and interest in public policy analysis and advocacy is required.
• Experience reviewing statutes and regulations.
• Strong commitment to reproductive freedom.
• Excellent communication skills—both oral and written.
• Ability to meet deadlines and work in a fast-paced, remote environment.
• Ability to work independently and handle confidential matters with good judgment.
• Inquisitive, proactive and self-motivated.

Responsabilidades

• Conduct legal and policy research on state and federal statutes, regulations, and agency guidance related to reproductive health policy.
• Monitor legislative and regulatory developments; summarize provisions, timelines and implications.
• Track pending litigation and prepare concise updates on legal questions and status.
• Draft research memoranda, policy briefs, backgrounders, and other materials.
• Support cross-state policy analysis by organizing research findings and source materials.
• Prepare briefing materials and meeting summaries to support cross-state learning.
