Job summary

The Ohio State University is hiring a Sponsored Program Officer (SPO) within the ERIK | Office of Sponsored Programs Administration. The SPO acts as the institutional business official for pre- and post-award management of externally funded grants and contracts, interfacing with PIs and department administrators.

Responsibilities include pre-award negotiation, award set-up, post-award closeout, and ensuring compliance with sponsor and university policies. Remote work within Ohio is eligible.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Two years of administrative experience in a professional business capacity.
• Two years of customer service and problem-solving experience; proficient with Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Pre-Award/Award Negotiation: advises PIs, reviews budgets, ensures compliance, and submissions.
• Award Set-up: enters award information, communicates with PIs, and negotiates subaward terms.
• Post Award/Closeout: reviews grant reports, coordinates with purchasing, and ensures financial compliance.
• Other duties: participates in committees, builds relationships, and supports outreach.
