Job summary

DaMar Staffing is seeking an experienced Specialty Physician Coder for a remote role based in Southern California. The contract spans 3-6+ months with potential for extension, offering variety across office, hospital, inpatient, and outpatient coding.

You will collaborate directly with physicians and revenue cycle teams, review documentation, and ensure accurate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding. Strong analytical skills and Epic EMR experience are required.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of medical coding in a hospital or physician office.
• 1+ year of specialty coding in Cardiology, Gastroenterology, Medical Hematology/Oncology, OBGYN, Pulmonology, General Surgery, or Radiation Oncology.
• ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding proficiency.
• Experience with physicians on coding and documentation questions.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Epic EMR.

Responsibilities

• Review physician documentation and assign ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes.
• Code office visits, hospital encounters, outpatient/inpatient services, and surgical reports.
• Resolve coding-related claim denials and edits.
• Work weekly Missing Charge Reports to catch missed billable services.
• Provide coding education and guidance to physicians and clinical staff.
• Partner with billing, insurance, and customer service teams to resolve issues.
• Prepare materials for specialty provider meetings and follow up on action items.
