Job summary

The National Forest Foundation is seeking an Exempt, full-time Southern New Mexico Associate Program Manager to build partnerships and manage conservation programs across New Mexico's National Forests.

Reporting to the New Mexico Program Manager, the role develops scopes of work, budgets, and collaborations with the USDA Forest Service, local communities, NGOs, and private partners to advance NFF strategies.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in natural resources-related field.
• 5+ years’ experience with proven results in conservation programming and related community-based collaborative conservation.
• Strong knowledge of USDA Forest Service policies, procedures and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Build close, mutually beneficial relationships between USDA Forest Service, NFF, and NM field partners to implement community-based conservation partnerships.
• Strengthen the NFF’s ability to support on-the-ground restoration, recreation and community engagement by developing new partnerships and sharing resources.
• Support NFF programs across southern NM, including operation and management of programs, projects, funds, and teams across Lincoln and Gila National Forests.
• Work with USDA FS and SW Field Team to develop scopes of work and budgets for projects across Southern NM.
• Conduct procurement, contracting, and grant processes for hiring contractors and selecting grantees.
• Oversee contractors, consultants, nonprofits, and FS to manage implementation of conservation, watershed, restoration, and recreation projects.
• Ensure project implementations meet FS criteria and communicate with FS during implementation, providing final evaluation.
• Supervise Southwest team and support use of metrics to measure benefits of projects.
