Job summary

National Forest Foundation invites a Southern New Mexico Associate Program Manager to lead conservation initiatives with the USDA Forest Service and community partners. The role emphasizes developing partnerships, managing programs, and ensuring successful project delivery across New Mexico’s National Forests.

The position requires experience in conservation programming, strong knowledge of USFS policies, and the ability to work with diverse stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Undergrad degree in natural resources or related field or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of conservation programming with community-based collaboration.
  • Strong knowledge of USDA Forest Service policies and procedures.
  • Experience in natural resource management, restoration, or program management.
  • Understanding of New Mexico’s cultural history and resource issues.
  • Authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage conservation programs with USFS, communities, NGOs, and private partners across NM.
  • Build and sustain partnerships to support implementation of conservation projects.
  • Oversee program operations, including budgets, funds, and teams in Lincoln and Gila National Forests.
  • Develop scopes of work and budgets with FS for Southern NM projects.
  • Oversee procurement, contracting, and grant processes for project delivery.
  • Supervise Southwest team staff and ensure alignment with program goals.
  • Measure outcomes using defined metrics and communicate results to stakeholders.
  • Pursue new funding opportunities and expand private/public partnerships.
