Job summary

National Forest Foundation is seeking a Lincoln NF Forestry Project Coordinator to support forest restoration across Lincoln National Forest in New Mexico. The role focuses on forestry oversight, reforestation, contracting, and coordination with USFS and partners to implement restoration projects.

The position requires strong communication, organizational, and budgeting skills, plus the ability to travel regularly and work in outdoor conditions. Remote work with field travel is supported.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in conservation, forestry, natural resource management or equivalent work experience.
• At least three years of work experience with conservation programs, project planning, and/or coordinating project implementation.
• Experience with land and watershed science, policy, and management including fire science, vegetation management, wildlife conservation, and/or meadow and stream restoration.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, and administrative skills.
• Strong writing skills and public speaking experience.
• Familiarity with leave/cut tree marking and silviculture designations.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate forest restoration efforts across Lincoln National Forest with oversight of forestry, reforestation, and contract management.
• Build relationships among the USFS, NFF, and partners to implement community-based conservation.
• Oversee contractor supervision, planting crews, and contract inspections to ensure project delivery.
• Develop RFIs/RFPs and manage procurement and contractor selection.
• Report project outcomes to grantors and participate in Lincoln NF coordination meetings.
• Identify partnerships and grants to expand forest thinning projects and restoration work.
• Engage with the public to promote forest stewardship and outreach campaigns.
