Job summary

Optum Health Enterprise Architecture is seeking a Solution Architect to drive end-to-end architecture for healthcare platforms, aligning with technology strategy and governance. You will design robust integrations and data flows using HL7, FHIR, EDI, and DICOM while evaluating AI tools to optimize workflows.

This remote role offers US-wide flexibility; Minneapolis or Washington, DC area hires require four days in office weekly.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of healthcare domain expertise across Provider, Patient, Clinical, Claims, Payer, Value-Based Care, Fee-for-Service, and System Interoperability
• 4+ years of healthcare technology experience
• Experience in Enterprise or Solution Architecture within complex IT environments
• Experience working with key healthcare standards and integration technologies (e.g., HL7, FHIR, EDI, DICOM, RIS / PACS, Master Data Management, Electronic Health Record Systems, Interface Engines)
• Experience formulating technology strategy, technical governance, and providing architecture consultation to senior business/technical leaders

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end Solution Architecture for healthcare platforms, ensuring alignment with Optum Health Enterprise Architecture standards, technology strategy, and governance
• Provide expert Technology Consultation, Application Portfolio Management, and Vendor Management to optimize technology investments
• Design, integrate, and maintain complex systems utilizing core healthcare standards and protocols, including HL7, FHIR, EDI, DICOM, RIS / PACS, Master Data Management (MDM), Electronic Health Record Systems (Epic is a plus), and Interface Engines
• Evaluate AI tools and products for enterprise utilization to streamline workflows, automate tasks, and drive continuous improvement
• Evaluate emerging trends to inform solution design and strategic innovation
• Design, develop, and deploy strategic solutions, including those that are AI-powered, to address complex business challenges with emphasis on responsible use of data and AI
• Establish architectural blueprints, reference models, technology landscapes, and transition roadmaps to guide development and capabilities across the ecosystem
• Partner with product owners, business analysts, and engineering leads to govern design patterns and promote technical excellence
