Job summary

The Landline Company is hiring a Software Engineer to own the driver app, handheld tools, and the real-time integration that powers a 24/7 North American operation. You’ll improve field experiences with offline-first design, device integrations, and secure workflows.

Work across booking to operations backend, partnering with airlines and station staff. Remote-friendly with frequent travel to hub airports in the USA and Canada.

Qualifications

• Offline-first design to cope with spotty connectivity.
• IoT and device integration with camera, barcode/NFC, GPS.
• Experience with telematics platforms (Samsara) or similar.
• Strong Next.js/VerceI environment across the stack.
• Automation / LLM-driven workflows that real users depend on.
• Secure-by-design in security-regulated environments.
• Forward-deployed experience with operations teams.
• Ability to work across backend and frontend when fixes live there.

Responsibilities

• Own the field software layer: driver app and handheld tools used by staff.
• Design flows for offline and challenging field conditions.
• Integrate device capabilities (camera, barcode/NFC, GPS) for verifiable events.
• Integrate IoT and vehicle telematics into a single real-time operation view.
• Collaborate across booking, dispatch, and operations backend as one product.
• Pursue agentic workflows and push LLM-driven tooling forward.
• Ship fixes rapidly during on-site rotations with partner staff.
