Job summary

The Landline Company is seeking a Software Engineer to own the field software layer, including the driver app and handheld tools used by station staff across North America. You’ll connect booking systems to the operations backend and ship fixes rapidly.

Join a small, engineer-friendly team; you’ll work with offline-first design, IoT integration, and real-time data flows while traveling to hub airports and partner stations as needed.

Qualifications

• Offline-first mindset for spotty connectivity and sync conflicts.
• IoT/device integration experience with camera, scanning, GPS.
• Experience with telematics platforms (Samsara or similar).
• Modern web fluency in a Next.js/Vercel environment.
• Agentic/automation experience with LLM-driven workflows or orchestration.
• Secure-by-design mindset for data integrity and least privilege.
• Forward-deployed experience with users or operations teams.

Responsibilities

• Own the field software layer: driver app and handheld tools.
• Design offline-first flows for real-world conditions.
• Integrate camera, scanning, and GPS capabilities.
• Integrate IoT and telematics for real-time operation views.
• Collaborate across booking, dispatch, and backend platforms.
• Explore agentic workflows with LLM-driven tooling.
• Deliver weekly fixes in coordination with users.
