Job summary

Lyric in the United States is offering a 12-week Software Engineer Intern program designed for students who have completed their third year in CS, SE, or related fields. You will work with Lyric engineers on modernization, APIs, cloud technologies, and data performance, applying AI-assisted coding tools with a strong emphasis on code quality and security.

This internship focuses on full-stack development, RESTful APIs, databases, and cloud platforms (Azure/AWS).

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a closely related technical field
• Expected to have completed the third year of undergraduate study prior to the start of the internship
• Completion of university coursework in programming, software development, data structures, algorithms, databases, or related computer science disciplines
• Foundational programming experience gained through coursework, academic projects, personal projects, hackathons, research, or other university activities
• Familiarity with at least one modern programming language such as: C#, Java, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, C++, or a comparable OO language
• Foundational understanding of OOP, data structures, algorithms, and software development principles
• Basic understanding of relational databases and SQL
• Familiarity with Git/GitHub
• Interest in using AI as part of the software development lifecycle with validation of AI-generated work
• No prior professional software engineering experience required

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the design, development, testing, and delivery of software supporting Lyric's platform
• Work on modernization initiatives involving .NET, APIs, databases, cloud technologies, and web apps
• Help develop and test RESTful APIs and microservices for scalable architecture
• Contribute to front-end development using Angular, React, JavaScript, or TypeScript
• Gain experience with relational databases including SQL Server and data modeling
• Use AI-assisted development tools to support coding, debugging, and testing
• Learn to evaluate AI-generated code and apply human judgment
• Participate in code reviews and receive feedback on practices, architecture, testing, and performance
• Develop automated unit and integration tests and learn CI/CD practices
• Assist with debugging and resolving defects and performance issues
• Gain exposure to Azure and/or AWS and cloud deployment/monitoring
• Learn observability, logging, monitoring, and telemetry for health checks
• Collaborate with Engineering, Product, UX, DevOps, QA to translate requirements
• Apply secure development practices protecting healthcare and customer data
• Participate in Agile activities and maintain technical documentation
• Complete an internship project and present results to Engineering leadership
