Job summary

Lyric is seeking a Software Engineer Intern for a 12-week remote internship in the United States. You will work with experienced engineers on modernizing our payment integrity platform, building APIs, cloud infrastructure, and AI-assisted development practices.

Candidates are pursuing CS/SE/CE/IT degrees and should have foundational programming experience in multiple languages. This internship emphasizes learning secure software development, code reviews, and hands-on projects across full-stack

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a closely related field
• Expected to have completed the third year of undergraduate study prior to the start of the internship
• Completion of university coursework in programming, software development, data structures, algorithms, databases, or related CS disciplines
• Foundational programming experience from coursework or projects
• Familiarity with at least one modern programming language such as C#, Java, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, C++, or similar OO language
• Foundational understanding of OO programming, data structures, algorithms, and software development principles
• Basic understanding of relational databases and SQL
• Familiarity with Git/GitHub
• Interest in using AI as part of the software development lifecycle
• No prior professional software engineering experience required

Responsibilities

• Contribute to design, development, testing, and delivery of software for Lyric's platform
• Modernize applications with .NET, APIs, databases, cloud technologies
• Develop and test RESTful APIs and microservices for scalable architecture
• Contribute to front-end work using Angular/React/JavaScript/TypeScript
• Gain experience with SQL Server databases and data modeling
• Use AI-assisted development tools to support coding, debugging, and testing
• Evaluate AI-generated code with human judgment before integrating
• Participate in code reviews and receive feedback on best practices
• Develop automated unit and integration tests and learn CI/CD
• Identify, debug, and resolve software defects and performance issues
• Gain exposure to Azure and/or AWS and cloud deployment practices
• Learn observability, logging, monitoring, and telemetry for health checks
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate requirements into software
• Apply secure software development practices for healthcare data
• Participate in Agile development activities and retrospectives
• Maintain technical documentation for projects
• Complete internship project and present results to leadership
