Job summary

McGraw Hill seeks a Software Engineer II - Applied AI to develop Generative AI-enabled apps on our AI Platform. You will integrate AI across the full stack, collaborating with data scientists and product managers to deliver scalable, accessible solutions for millions of students and educators.

You will work with Python/Node.js backends, Angular/React frontends, and databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, DynamoDB) while leveraging cloud (AWS/Azure) and Terraform for infrastructure.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of product or enterprise software development experience.
• Hands-on experience with Backend/API (Python, Node.js), Frontend (Angular/React), databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, DynamoDB).
• Experience building scalable AI-powered solutions at enterprise level (Azure OpenAI, Bedrock, etc.).
• Recent focus on generative AI with LangChain; knowledge of Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG).
• Familiarity with MCP servers/clients for LLM integration; strong CI/CD and security practices.
• Accessible web features and strong technical communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain AI platform and AI-powered tools/applications.
• Implement scalable generative AI solutions with reliability and maintainability.
• Collaborate with data scientists, product managers, and engineers to deliver high-quality solutions.
• Apply WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility standards in code, tests, and design processes.
• Stay current with AI advancements and integrate new capabilities as appropriate.
• Contribute to CI/CD processes and cloud infrastructure optimization.
• Ensure application security and data privacy compliance.
• Drive best engineering practices for quality, stability, and performance.
