Job summary

R1 RCM, Inc. is hiring a Software Engineer – Data Platform to build the PhareOS data foundations, backend schemas and APIs powering our AI engine and customer-facing applications.

You will design and operate large-scale data pipelines and microservices, using Spark, Databricks, Airflow, and Kafka, ensuring performance, observability and security for healthcare data. This US-based role sits remotely in the United States, with a base pay range and a 10% target bonus, and opportunities to influence

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, incl. 2+ years with large data pipelines.
• Strong proficiency in Scala and SQL.
• Experience building microservices and APIs with Python, Java, or Go.
• Hands-on with Databricks, Spark, Airflow, Kafka or similar tech.
• Experience with API integrations and distributed systems.
• Experience with Terraform, Docker and Kubernetes.
• Healthcare or RCM experience.

Responsibilities

• Design and operate large-scale data pipelines and APIs powering AI-enabled healthcare apps.
• Build scalable data infra using modern data engineering tech and cloud-native architectures.
• Partner with AI/ML and product teams to support internal models and customer products.
• Drive observability, reliability, and automation in production systems.
• Own critical production systems and influence architecture decisions.
