Job summary

R1 RCM, Inc. is seeking a Software Engineer – Data Platform to build the data foundation of PhareOS Stack, including back-end schemas and APIs powering AI engines and user apps. You will ensure high-performance, observable, secure data handling for healthcare workflows.

Ideal candidates bring deep distributed data systems expertise and a passion for resilient infrastructure that supports machine learning and software products. This is a remote US-based role with strong compensation and benefits.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in software engineering with data pipelines.
• 2+ years in high-throughput data pipelines and distributed data systems.
• Proficiency in Scala and SQL; production-grade data platforms.
• Experience building microservices, APIs, ETL using Python/Java/Go.
• Hands-on with Databricks, Spark, Airflow, Kafka.
• Experience designing API integrations and distributed systems with external partners.
• Infrastructure and containerization with Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes.
• Experience on-call support rotations.
• Healthcare or RCM experience.

Responsibilities

• Design and operate large-scale data pipelines, backend services, and APIs for AI-powered healthcare apps.
• Building scalable data infrastructure using modern data engineering tech and cloud-native architectures.
• Partner with AI/ML and product teams to deliver reliable data foundations.
• Drive observability, reliability, and operational excellence.
• Own production systems; influence architecture and future data platform.
