Job summary

R1 RCM Inc. is seeking a Software Engineer, Data Platform (HL7/FHIR) to join our AI lab, R37, in the United States. You will build scalable software for pre-bill workflows and mentor junior engineers, partnering with product and engineering to guide technical direction.

You’ll apply Spark, Python, Scala, Databricks, HL7/FHIR, and cloud platforms to deliver reliable systems that move from idea to real healthcare environments, improving reimbursement and patient care across health systems.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
10+ years of software or data engineering experience, with 5+ years in leadership roles.
Strong experience with Apache Spark, Python, Scala, Databricks, and big-data architecture.
Hands-on HL7, FHIR, Epic, clinical data, and healthcare tech environments.
Experience with major cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP).
Strong knowledge of web services, XML, JSON, REST APIs, and integration tech.

Responsibilities

Shape technology strategy with senior product and engineering leaders.
Define and influence the technical roadmap and architectural direction.
Propose optimal approaches to maintainable, testable, and high-performance code.
Collaborate with product and business stakeholders to estimate epics, features, and stories.
Automate builds, CI/CD pipelines, and staging environments.
Mentor junior developers and act as a technical lead.
