R1 RCM, Inc. is expanding its AI and data platform efforts to transform healthcare revenue management.

The Staff Software Engineer, Data Platform (HL7/FHIR) will help build scalable data products, mentor engineers, and help shape architecture across Spark, Python, Scala, and cloud environments. The role emphasizes collaboration with product and engineering leaders, delivering maintainable code, and driving performance across large healthcare datasets.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
10+ years of software engineering or data engineering experience, including 5+ years in a technical leadership or thought‑leadership capacity.
Hands‑on experience with HL7, FHIR, Epic, and healthcare data environments.
Extensive experience with at least one major cloud platform (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
Strong knowledge of XML, XSD, SOAP, JSON, and REST APIs.
Experience with modern software engineering practices including CI/CD, automated testing, Agile development.

Responsibilities

Participate in roadmap definition with senior product and engineering leaders.
Shape strategic technology direction and choices.
Provide architectural recommendations to structure source code and implementations for maintainability and performance.
Collaborate with product management to understand requirements and estimate epics, features, and stories.
Script and maintain automated build steps, CI/CD pipelines, and staging environments.
Mentor junior developers and act as a subject‑matter expert across technical domains.
