Job summary

SONIFI Health is seeking a Software Architect to define architecture, design standards, and technical direction for our healthcare software solutions. This remote, individual contributor role reports to the VP of Healthcare Engineering and influences how designs are delivered.

You will lead decisions, collaborate across Product, PM, Engineering, Infrastructure, and Security to ensure performance, security, HIPAA and SOC 2 compliance, and governance across the portfolio.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering; 7+ years software engineering, including architecture/leadership.
• Experience with enterprise architecture methodologies, domain-driven design, and patterns.
• Experience architecting systems on AWS (EC2, Lambda, API Gateway, RDS, S3).
• Proficiency with REST, GraphQL, and gRPC; message queues (SNS, SQS, RabbitMQ); event-driven architectures.
• Experience with microservices, containers (Podman, Docker, Kubernetes), and CI/CD pipelines.
• Understanding of HIPAA, data protection, and secure SDLC practices.
• Strong communication and leadership to influence decisions and build consensus.

Responsibilities

• Define and document solution architectures aligning with standards and regulatory needs.
• Lead high-level design decisions for complex projects ensuring scalability and maintainability.
• Partner with Product/PM to align architecture with business strategy and delivery timelines.
• Evaluate technologies and frameworks; champion modular architectures for independent scaling.
• Provide architectural oversight for performance, security, and compliance (HIPAA, SOC 2).
• Contribute to governance through reviews, documentation standards, and technical records.
• Mentor engineers in design thinking, code quality, and technical decision-making.
• Collaborate across teams to support integrations with financial and operational systems.
