Job summary

System One is seeking a Sodium Fire Analysis Engineer to perform modeling calculations supporting the Natrium design and licensing. You will work with nuclear safety analysis and licensing staff to ensure regulatory requirements for nuclear safety and worker protection are met.

Responsibilities include developing analytical methods for sodium reactions and containment performance, verifying codes, and contributing to hazard analyses and regulatory submittals with the NRC.

Qualifications

• M.S. or Ph.D. in nuclear engineering or related field with at least 3 years of nuclear experience.
• In-depth knowledge of sodium chemistry, thermal-hydraulics, reactor dynamics, and transients.
• Experience with sodium fire analysis using the listed codes or similar.
• Familiarity with containment approaches and regulatory guidance for advanced reactors.
• Strong quantitative, analytical, modeling, and reporting skills.
• Understanding of NQA-1 requirements for analysis and software management.

Responsibilities

• Perform sodium fire modeling calculations to support design and licensing.
• Collaborate with safety and licensing teams to meet standards.
• Develop analytical models for sodium reactions, aerosols, and transport.
• Conduct software QA to qualify modeling codes.
• Support mechanistic source term methods for operations and accidents.
• Develop containment performance models including mass/energy release.
• Support NRC regulatory submittals and interactions.
• Document model development and analysis results.
• Review engineering calculations and propose safety improvements.
