Job summary

Great American Insurance Group is seeking a Small Business Renewal Underwriter & Portfolio Associate to support the Northeast territory from a fully remote position. You will evaluate and underwrite small business accounts, analyze risk data, and collaborate with agents and clients to secure renewals and new business.

Ideal candidates have 2-5 years of commercial lines underwriting, strong analytical and communication skills, and proficiency with underwriting systems and policy administration

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent insurance experience considered.
• 2-5 years of commercial lines underwriting or related experience.
• CPCU/AU/AINS/ARM or progress toward credentials preferred.
• Proficient with underwriting systems and policy administration platforms.
• Strong analytical and decision-making and excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Underwrites small business accounts for new and renewal business per guidelines.
• Analyzes risk data including financials, valuations, and loss histories to assess risk.
• Collaborates with underwriters, agents, brokers, and clients to obtain information.
• Prepares and maintains underwriting files with approvals and documents.
• Ensures compliance with state and federal insurance regulations; documents decisions clearly.
• Maintains relationships to generate new business and retain profitable accounts.
• Occasional travel as needed.
