Job summary

Great American Insurance Group is seeking a Small Business Renewal Underwriter & Portfolio Associate for a fully remote role spanning the Northeast to Illinois/Wisconsin. You’ll underwrite new and renewal small business, analyze risk, and collaborate with agents and clients to secure profitable renewals.

The position requires a 2-5 year background in commercial lines underwriting, strong analytical skills, and proficiency with underwriting systems and MS Office. Travel may be limited.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent insurance experience considered.
• 2-5 years of commercial lines underwriting or related experience.
• Proficiency with underwriting systems and MS Office.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite small business accounts (new and renewal) per guidelines.
• Analyze risk data for coverage, pricing, and terms.
• Collaborate with underwriters, agents, brokers, and clients.
• Maintain underwriting files and prepare risk/portfolio reports.
• Document underwriting decisions per regulations and policies.
• Communicate decisions clearly to internal teams and brokers.
• Stay updated on industry trends and regulatory changes.
• Develop relationships to generate and retain profitable business.
