Job summary

Arctic Peak, an Akima company, seeks a Senior Site Superintendent / Quality Control Manager to support a federal renovation on Ascension Island. This remote assignment requires strong field leadership to manage daily operations, coordinate trades, and uphold quality control with Government stakeholders.

You will live on Ascension Island for about 180 days per deployment, overseeing multi-trade activities, safety, documentation, and progress reporting while coordinating with remote project

Qualifications

• Prior experience as a Superintendent, Quality Control Manager, Construction Manager, or similar field leadership role on construction projects.
• Experience with federal construction projects (DoD/USACE/NAVFAC etc.).
• Experience managing multi-trade vertical construction or renovation work.
• Ability to live/work on Ascension Island for ~180 days per deployment.
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
• Strong knowledge of construction sequencing, field coordination, quality control, and subcontractor management.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong documentation skills including daily/ QC reports and logs.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day field operations on Ascension Island.
• Coordinate subcontractors, trades, field crews, material deliveries, inspections, and work sequencing.
• Serve as on-site Quality Control Manager if approved and qualified.
• Implement and maintain the project quality control process including inspections.
• Review drawings, specs, submittals, RFIs, schedules, and field conditions.
• Identify risks early and communicate potential impacts to cost, schedule, quality, safety, logistics, and Government acceptance.
• Maintain daily reports, QC reports, deficiency logs, inspection records, and photo documentation.
• Coordinate with Government inspectors, base operations, project management, subcontractors, and stakeholders.
• Verify work aligns with submittals, contract docs, drawings, specs, and standards.
• Support progress reporting, schedule updates, look-ahead planning, and field coordination meetings.
• Monitor material status and coordinate procurement, shipping, staging, storage, and installation priorities.
• Support safety compliance and reinforce safe work practices with SSHO or safety rep.
• Ensure deficiencies are documented, tracked, corrected, and closed before completion.
• Maintain professional conduct in a remote, small-island environment.
• Communicate field progress, constraints, manpower, material needs, and required decisions clearly.
