Job summary

Piper Companies is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to support a Kubernetes-based platform in regulated cloud and on-prem environments. The role emphasizes reliability, security, and scalability across AWS and on-prem stacks, with potential remote work within the United States.

You will collaborate with senior engineers, implement IaC, improve CI/CD, and define SLIs/SLOs while supporting FedRAMP High/DoD IL5 compliant processes.

Qualifications

• 4-6 years in Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, Platform Engineering, or related roles.
• Strong hands-on Kubernetes experience in production.
• Experience with AWS, Azure or similar clouds; GovCloud a plus.
• Strong Linux administration, troubleshooting and infra support.
• IaC experience with Terraform, CloudFormation or similar.
• Scripting in Python, Go, or Ruby.
• Observability/monitoring with Prometheus, Grafana; centralized logging.
• CI/CD tools and deployment automation; ArgoCD preferred.
• Experience with regulated/enforced environments (FedRAMP High/DoD IL5) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Build, maintain, and support Kubernetes clusters across on-prem and AWS.
• Monitor platform reliability, availability, and performance via observability, alerting and troubleshooting.
• Develop automation tools to improve efficiency and reduce manual work.
• Define and track SLI/SLOs and error budgets with teams.
• Support compliance, security, auditing, and continuous monitoring in regulated environments.
• Contribute to IaC development using Terraform/CloudFormation.
• Improve CI/CD pipelines to support scalability and reliability.
• Collaborate with Security, Platform, and Application teams to deliver reliable infra.
