Job summary

Skyward Specialty Insurance Group seeks an E&S General Liability Senior Underwriter/AVP to manage a middle market GL portfolio within an E&S/non-admitted environment. You will evaluate risk, develop coverage and terms, and structure deals with wholesalers to drive profitable growth.

The role requires strong underwriting judgment, market knowledge, and the ability to mentor junior underwriters while maintaining governance and broker relationships across select wholesale offices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of General Liability underwriting experience in E&S/non-admitted env.
• Experience underwriting middle market accounts with higher complexity.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite and manage a middle market GL portfolio including new business and renewals.
• Evaluate risk and exposure by analyzing operations, loss history, and coverage needs.
• Develop coverage, pricing, and terms aligned with risk characteristics and rate adequacy.
• Structure and negotiate deals with wholesalers within delegated authority.
• Oversee account lifecycle management from issuance to renewal strategy.
• Maintain underwriting governance and compliance with guidelines and non-admitted requirements.
