Placements24 seeks a Senior Telecommunications Systems Architect for a fully remote role. You will own high-level design, architecture, and strategic roadmaps for complex telecom systems, ensuring scalability, security, and reliability.

You will collaborate with global teams to translate business needs into technical solutions and influence architectural direction. The ideal candidate has 10+ years in telecom architecture, deep knowledge of IP/MPLS, SDN/NFV, 4G/5G, and cloud platforms

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in EE/CS/Telecommunications or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years in telecommunications systems design and architecture.
• Deep expertise in IP/MPLS, SDN, NFV, 4G/5G, and cloud infrastructure.
• Experience designing large-scale, carrier-grade platforms.
• Strong knowledge of SIP, RTP, Diameter, RADIUS.
• Experience with virtualization (VMware/KVM) and containers (Docker/Kubernetes).
• Excellent written and verbal communication; remote collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Define and document the overall architecture for telecommunications systems (network, compute, storage).
• Develop roadmaps for evolving network technologies (5G, SDN, NFV, IoT).
• Evaluate technologies, platforms, and vendors to meet architectural requirements.
• Create high-level designs, detailed specs, and PoCs.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, and operations to translate business needs into technical solutions.
• Provide technical leadership to engineering teams through development and implementation.

Key Responsibilities

Requirements

• Master's or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or a related field; or equivalent extensive experience.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in telecommunications systems design and architecture.
• Deep expertise in network architectures (IP, MPLS, SDN, NFV), wireless technologies (4G, 5G), and cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Proven experience designing and architecting large-scale, carrier-grade telecommunications platforms.
• Strong understanding of relevant protocols (e.g., SIP, RTP, Diameter, RADIUS) and standards.
• Demonstrated experience with virtualization technologies (VMware, KVM) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts clearly.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fully remote, distributed team environment.
• Experience with security architectures for telecommunications networks is a significant advantage.
