Job summary

Smithfield Foods is seeking a Project Engineering Manager to lead large-scale engineering projects in the pork and packaged meat industry. You will design, develop, and implement innovative solutions, oversee a team of engineers, and partner with vendors and plant personnel to meet schedules and budget. This role requires a Bachelor's in Engineering with 5+ years of experience and at least 2 years of leadership.

Frequent travel (approx. 50%) and strong communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field with 5+ years of relevant experience.
2+ years of leadership experience including team development and management.
Ability to apply sound engineering principles to operational and design issues.
Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

Design engineering work: develop designs, specs, and project cost estimates; manage execution with vendors and schedules.
Lead design implementation with vendors; maintain documentation and vendor contacts.
Prepare and evaluate proposals; monitor project status and report to management.
Manage contracts and bid packages; ensure budget compliance and document project plans.
Provide leadership and coaching to engineers to drive a positive team experience.
