Job summary

ApartmentIQ is hiring a staff-level engineer to own the rent-pricing data pipeline end-to-end. You’ll work across Python for ML and ingestion, Terraform for infrastructure, and Ruby for the customer-facing app layer.

The role demands shipping robust, autonomous systems in a remote, US-wide team. You’ll tackle data reconciliation across property management systems, build an orchestration layer, and ensure observability and reliability while upholding high code quality and AI-driven engineering

Qualifications

• 8+ years building and operating production systems with real ownership.
• Strong Python in serverless or service context; AWS Lambda, containers, multi-stage job orchestration.
• Hands-on Terraform; production data store setup with IAM, encryption, networking, alarms.
• Fluent in analytical SQL and data modeling; multi-stage warehouse pipelines; reconciled source data.

Responsibilities

• Own a system that sets rents, including demand models, renewal probability and price elasticity.
• Build the orchestration layer to run ingestion, inference, and daily jobs in the correct order.
• Develop data pipeline infrastructure across databases, queues, and roles using Terraform.
• Ensure observability: pipeline health, data freshness, and drift alerts.
• Contribute across the stack with Python, Terraform, and Ruby as core skills.
• Define and enforce AI-assisted engineering practices and reviews.
