Job summary

KoBold Metals is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for Scientific Computing. You will apply software engineering and ML to remote-sensing, drilling, imaging, and geophysics data to build scalable ML systems supporting mineral exploration.

You will work with data scientists and geologists to advance the modern scientific computing stack, with occasional travel to exploration sites. Remote work is supported for candidates in the US or Canada.

Qualifications

• 5+ years as a software engineer, data scientist, or ML engineer.
• Experience building production data processing solutions.
• Proficiency with ML concepts, including traditional and deep learning.
• Proficiency in Python with scientific stacks (xarray, numpy).
• Experience with data from physical world measurements or imaging.
• Ability to collaborate with geoscientists and engineers.

Responsibilities

• Architect and maintain foundational scientific computing libraries.
• Integrate third‑party tooling into robust, repeatable pipelines.
• Build tooling for rapid ML prototyping, experiments, and scalable pipelines.
• Debug across boundaries with diverse code and data sources.
• Collaborate with data scientists, geologists, and engineers to innovate.
