Job summary

UpRecruit is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to help modernize a mature Perl-based SaaS platform. The role is contract-to-hire with potential to become full-time, reporting to the CTO. You will design features, optimize SQL queries, and help evolve the architecture while maintaining reliability for enterprise customers.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years of software engineering experience, deep Perl expertise, and strong SQL/MySQL skills, with a focus on scalable, production-grade systems.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Become familiar with a large Perl-based SaaS platform and its architecture.
• Design and implement new features while maintaining production stability.
• Modernize API boundaries and JSON-based services.
• Improve performance, scalability, and maintainability without wholesale rewrites.
• Write and optimize SQL queries to support complex workflows.
• Collaborate with leadership to prioritize modernization initiatives.
