Job summary

Comgent is seeking a Resident Engineer to deliver remote, customer-facing engineering support for Juniper Service Provider networks. You will advise on design, implementation, operation, and optimization of routing, MPLS, VPN, and related technologies within customer environments.

You will develop deep Juniper expertise, test new designs and releases, and create implementation plans, MOPs, and technical documentation while collaborating with customer teams and internal stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Provide on-site technical support for Juniper Service Provider network environments.
• Design and implement migration/upgrade plans for service provider networks.
• Troubleshoot complex routing, MPLS, VPN, and platform-related issues.

Responsibilities

• Provide on-site technical support for Juniper Service Provider network environments.
• Support network design, implementation, migration, upgrades, and optimisation activities.
• Troubleshoot complex routing, MPLS, VPN, and platform-related issues through to resolution.
• Manage and track JTAC cases, Product Reports (PRs), software fixes, and RMAs.
• Test and validate new designs, software releases, patches, and features before production deployment.
• Develop implementation plans, Methods of Procedure (MOPs), rollback plans, and technical documentation.
• Support Juniper MX, PTX, and other relevant routing and switching platforms.
• Provide expertise across MPLS, L3VPN, L2VPN, VPLS, BGP, IS-IS, OSPF, and related Service Provider technologies.
• Develop network automation scripts and operational tooling using Python, Ansible, or similar technologies.
• Conduct technical workshops, knowledge transfer, and training for customer engineering teams.
• Perform configuration reviews, network health checks, risk assessments, and best-practice recommendations.
• Produce regular technical reports, status updates, and documentation.
