The American Heart Association is seeking a Senior Communications Manager - Science Media Relations. This role can be home-based with flexible location. You will translate scientific findings for media and the public, promoting research across journals, abstracts, and guidelines.

You will mentor peers, manage campaigns, and lead media outreach with senior leadership guidance. Ideal candidates have strong AP style expertise, 5+ years in media relations, and proven ability to secure earned

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in communications or equivalent experience.
Five years of exceptional writing/editing translating science for the public.
Five years of securing earned media coverage and journalist relationships.
Five years of project management and handling multiple priorities.
Strong AP style knowledge and ability to meet tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

Implement multi-year strategic communication plans for scientific manuscripts and abstracts.
Develop news releases, pitches, and multimedia assets to promote research.
Collaborate to review abstracts, provide edits, and craft talking points.
Lead development of news kits for scientific meetings and related materials.
Work with senior leaders on traditional and social media strategy.
Monitor media landscape and respond to breaking heart/brain health news.
