Job summary

GDIT is seeking a Scala Back-End Developer to design, develop, and maintain server-side applications for mission-critical CMS projects. You will build robust APIs and ensure scalable data processing, employing Scala and Java, RESTful APIs, and modern backend practices.

The role emphasizes distributed systems, Git/Maven, and SQL databases, with opportunities to mentor junior team members and participate in design reviews. This position supports remote work and may require security clearance.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on Java software development experience
• 5+ years of hands-on Scala programming development expertise
• Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs
• Knowledge of functional programming paradigms, distributed systems, version control with Git, build tools including Maven, and SQL databases
• Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, or GCP) and containerization technologies like OpenShift

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain server-side applications using Scala and Java
• Create robust and scalable APIs and ensure efficient data processing
• Support distributed systems and demonstrate experience with Git, Maven, and SQL databases
• Write comprehensive unit tests and work on system architecture design and performance optimization
