Job summary

Tata Consultancy Services in Costa Mesa, CA seeks a Scala Developer to design and maintain scalable backend services, and to build data pipelines across AWS and Google Cloud Platform. Qualifications

• Strong proficiency in Scala with sbt for build management.
• Solid understanding of functional programming principles and best practices.
• Experience with JSON serialization/deserialization frameworks such as Circe.
• Hands-on experience with AWS and/or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Knowledge of cloud authentication and authorization mechanisms (IAM, STS, AssumeRole, WebIdentity).
• Experience integrating with AWS SDKs (S3, STS) and cloud data tools (BigQuery, Dataflow).
• Strong SQL skills and PostgreSQL experience.
• Experience with asynchronous and concurrent programming (FS2, cats-effect).
• Familiarity with Google Pub/Sub for distributed messaging.
• Strong testing experience (unit, component, integration).
• Proficiency with Git and modern workflows.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Scala.
• Build and enhance distributed systems processing large-scale data workloads.
• Develop integrations with AWS and GCP services.
• Implement secure authentication/authorization using cloud-native identity services.
• Build data pipelines for ingestion, transformation, and analytics.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define technical requirements.
• Ensure reliability, observability, performance, and operational excellence.
• Write clean, documented code and participate in code reviews.
• Troubleshoot distributed, cloud-based environments and drive testing strategies.
