KODE Health is hiring a Senior Ruby on Rails Engineer to advance healthcare coding and revenue cycle software. This fully remote position allows work from anywhere in the United States, with a focus on Rails expertise and AI integration. You will mentor juniors and contribute to scalable, robust applications.

The role emphasizes strong Ruby on Rails fundamentals, PostgreSQL experience, and frontend skills (HTML/CSS/JS). Collaboration across teams and a culture of testing and ownership are key.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, including 3+ years building and maintaining production Ruby on Rails applications
• Strong Ruby and Rails fundamentals, relational data modeling, SQL, and practical experience with PostgreSQL or a comparable relational database
• Experience creating user interfaces with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and a modern frontend approach; Hotwire preferred; React/Angular valuable
• Habit of verifying your own work, including automated tests and post-release checks
• Experience integrating APIs and troubleshooting across the stack
• Clear written and verbal communication with colleagues
• Practical AI tooling experience in engineering and ability to validate outputs

Responsibilities

• Partner with product managers to understand user needs and business priorities
• Write and maintain product requirements documents, implementation plans, estimates, and release plans
• Build and improve Ruby on Rails features, data models, integrations, and user-facing workflows
• Help build and improve user-facing AI agents and automated tests
• Create consistent interfaces using our design system and existing pages as references
• Write automated tests and review code; follow safe deployment practices
• Plan safe deployments and monitor behavior post-release
• Use AI across planning, design, development, review, and release
• Identify real problems and propose cost-justified improvements
